Excellent concept and execution. My mind is already spinning with ways I can build one and fit it into my games

Nicely done! For mine I picked up a package of the various sized rectangle "Woodsy" pieces and hot glued them into shape, then covered the open ends with card stock cut to size. I then base coated and highlighted them and now I have a set of various sized wooden crates. I need to get a package of the square ones and make some square crates too.
I also made some sarcophagi the same way just painted them differently, as well as a couple of wooden desks. They are quite versatile.

Have not yet had that pleasure m3talslime... but I did have the pleasure of watching/listening to DMScotty's newest vid showcasing the no measuring style. It reminded me of the way my group plays . Only thing I would have done different was the handling of initiative, and still left movement tied into the same action as combat, instead of different phases. The style you used was very "wargamey" in that one respect. Not that I am critiquing at all, it worked awesome. I cannot wait to see more. I learn so much watching other DM's and players in action...*two thumbs up!*

It's funny, my players will role-play very well during roll-play combat encounters, but take them out of that combat situation and most of them struggle and become awkward and, after a while, bored...Trying to get that right mix that allows them to develop yet not lose interest during the slower bits. much of that is on me I'm sure. Still trying to find that consistent groove after not DMing for nearly ten years... Right now that mix is at 33% role-play, 66% (or more) roll-play that they enjoy. Hopefully by the end of a few months I can swing that over closer to 50/50.

Mine just had one endcap of the Halloween stuff. Rest of the stuff I got was on the toy aisle. Found some cool lizards and snakes, but was hoping to get my hands on some gators....I'll keep looking. If I had been on a dino hunt I'd have been in huge trouble....well my wallet would have been.... Saw the Marvel minis as well but the selection was weak, mainly Spidey, was hoping for a Hulk too, but no luck..

I can't seem to get the video to link up that I was going to share. Guess I need to figure out something other than Picasa. Anyway, here is my best effort to describe what I created. I used really thin button snaps (I think I got a 6 pack for like 2 bucks at the local craft store). I hot-glued the male end to the floor, and the female end to the wall piece. Getting excess glue out of the female receiver in order to allow for functionality was an obstacle at first, but I figured it out. Discovering a functioning version of a revolving secret door is pretty bad-ass if you ask me This. Is. Epic.

Here's the goodies I picked up from Dollar Tree. Should be able to utilize quite a few of these in various ways As far as skulls go, I didn't see many little ones. You could try the Oriental Trading Co. catalogs or website. Or if you are looking for ones to use on minis try Puppetswar or a few of the 28mm accessory sites that pop up on google maybe? I'll keep my eyes open and if I find anything I will be sure to let ya know

Awesome Syxxan!
if I could offer one minor suggestion: highlight the edges of your walls with a light grey color. Just a thin edge on the wall "corners". It will really make your dungeon "pop", imho. Seriously awesome work.
I love multiple levels in dungeons. In fact, I am contemplating building a riser that sits on top of my table so I can utilize more than 2 or 3 sections of tile at a time and use levels, while leaving space underneath for the books and char sheets, and other stuff.

Nice, guess I know where I'll be stopping off at tomorrow, I just got one of those Oriental Trading Co. catalogs in the mail today and it's their Halloween edition. All kinds of similar goodies in bulk. I am hoping I can find some without having to order them in bulk, hehe.

Honestly, since switching over to using the tiles instead of the dry erase grid map we had been using since we started playing again I think my group has picked up the tape measure a total of 3 times to check distance. We all have a pretty good eye for distance and even those that aren't sure will say to me "This is what I want my char to do" and I'll either say "yeah" or "nay" depending on whether or not it is close and how cool/cinematic it happens to be.
For ex, I had the halfling monk in my group want to do a charge attack on a dire rat that was up on top of a box. He described what he wanted to do, which was charge foward and onto the box that was in front of him and jump off and do a flying kick into the rat. Something was just out of his range if I disallowed the charge because it wasn't in a pefectly straight line, and he had to run/jump onto the box. (Very cool and very cinematic, imho) So I told him yeah, go for it, but if you fumble it could get really bad, and that in order to do it he'd have to also make an acrobatics check. He said no worries and proceeded to succeed on the acro check and roll a natural 20 on the attack roll....(halflings really are lucky, lol) The whole table was cheering for him, including me..... and THAT is what the game is about as far as I am concerned.

Great post Neil! Thanks for sharing that! Out here in the desert things get dusty on the shelves very quickly and mini cases are so pricey. This is definitely a good way to go.

Sadly the dice I have bought only come in flimsy plastic tubes. I did go out on Google and try to find a company or site that sold the plastic/acrylic boxes in a 1" by 3" or a 1" x 2" size with no luck. Closest thing I found that might work are the small round jewelry tins that can be screwed together and stacked. Those would work but are not ideal as you lose the clear area beneath them. Of course there are companies that sell "flying bases", but most places that list them are "out of stock". If anyone knows of any place to find the ones like the dice boxes above and could post a link it would be great. Here's the link to the round stackable ones I came across: www.etsy.com/listing/59273827/25-in-1-stackable-storage-jars-in?ref=shop_home_active

That does sound really cool and intuitive. I am thinking I am going to have to download the Next test rules (if they are still up) and check the rest of them out. Some of the things I have heard sound positive.
