Okay, so you showed us how to make the regular stairway. How about those circular stairways found a many dungeons out there?

I made a circular stairway and posted it a bit ago. I used cut pencils on the bottom for support, and glued it to a base. It is a stone stairway, so I painted it with stone texture.
I wish I could insert a pic, but for some reason I cannot. Anyone know how to insert a pic into a post?

yeah you have to use image tags and a URL image tags start and end the url, so you type like this, but without the spaces in the tags: [ i m g ]http://yourserver.com/yourimagefilename.jpg[ / i m g ]

So that is one cardboard circle cut into 8 sections, 2 posts and a square of cardboard?

Yes, you are correct. The 8 sections are from one circle of cardboard. Once you cut the 8 sections (like a pizza). Hot glue them together by overlapping them by about 1/4 on each piece. It comes out to a circular stair 3/4 around. I used a cut up colored pencil for the support, glued it to a base, then painted it with black and stone texture.
This stair was a large one for a specific dungeon (it is 20' across). For a normal wooden stair, I used just cardstock, no support, then painted it with wood colors. The problem with spiral stairs is that unless it is large, like this one, minis will not fit on it properly.
Thanks for enjoying.

I love the whole layout of that dungeon, Anthony. We spoke briefly on G+. I had started an ambitious 2 floor fight (circular stairway included) months ago. It has been a lot of work and really a side project. I will post pictures when it is ready. Potentially this weekend, but more than likely I will use it in a mansion a bit later.

as soon as I get a chance, I'll take a pic of the entire dungeon for all to see.

There was a great deal of glue used for sure! Other than the volcano I have been working on, (on and off for several months now) the stairwell was the single most time consuming project I have created. Cutting the individual pieces for the steps alone took ages.

As I mentioned in one of the other threads, I love the option for a 3 tile simultaneous encounter. First floor, second floor, stairs.

If you are going to use stairs for a functional prop make sure that miniatures can balance on any given step I actually tossed this stairwell in the trash because (even thought it looked great) it had terrible functionality. Also a bit of wisdom, decide if there is a good reason/encounter before you go to the trouble. Stairs are very tricky!
