I recently watched DungeonMasterG's video on making Treasure chests and it inspired me to use his technique and create a mimic.
Basically I built an open chest like he does in the video then took a dremel sanding bit and sanded out a brow on the lid of the chest and repeated the shape on the front side of the container to make a curved mouth shape.
For teeth I used toothpick points. The tongue came from a Spider-man figure I picked up cheap at a yard sale. I just glued it into the chest.
For drool I used 2 different techniques. I dabbed hot glue on the top of the lip and pulled it down to make some streamers. I then shook up a bottle of clear gloss and painted the bubbly foam at the top, onto the mouth and tongue thickly to capture the air bubbles so they dried onto the mini.
