I was thinking about making stuff that is "encounter dressing", things like boxes, barrels, tables, chests, tables, chairs, etc. Those things that you find in an encounter room. This way we can make them and have them in a box by the DM table, to fill in rooms.
I noticed that in the rooms that there were items in (not just monsters) the players really started to take notice.
So, anyone have any ideas/pics for these?

Using some card board you could do just the basic shape of furniture. Say a box of the base and a flat piece for the table top. As far as painting it. Just paint the wooden colors on the top. Make lines for the planks. On the base paint the whole thing black and then paint the "profile" of the legs on the corners.
You could do this with just about any basic shape. Just remember to leave the "negative" space painted black and do not cut the cardboard out. If you did cut it this would weaken the structure.

I've been thinking a lot about how to do this, anyone have any example pictures of how they've done boxes, chairs, etc?

This is something I would LOVE to see, I have made mini wooden stuff with Popsicle sticks, and some other stuff like the things on this website: www.gamedecor.com/abasworld/Tricks/treasures%20&%20trinkets.htmBut for things such as chests, levers, fireplaces, bone piles, and waterways that are modular, I haven't the slightest idea on what I could do on a budget, and would like to see information for these.

Not the greatest photo, but hopefully this conveys the scene. I had shared this previously, but not sure who may or may not have seen it.

I love the Inn, m3talslime has really shown how you can be creative with these techniques and literally create anything! And to me this looks so much better without grids. Not only that, but the players have complete freedom of movement and can place their characters anywhere they want and don't have to worry about being in a square.

During the encounter with some doppelgangers (the staff all turned on us) having tables, stools, and windows that were not attached (one got smashed out and I had a mini-tile for that in case someone jumped/was thrown out the window) was a lot of fun for the players.
