If this post is in the wrong place I apologize. I've been scouting Pinterest and other places for storage ideas. Like most of you I have a lot of miniatures and gaming loot. I have kept a large part of my lead pile in a white box for years. So much weight there that minis at the bottom sometimes get bent. Anyway I was wandering what others did for storage of your unpainted minis? I have used those small storage bin cabinets but think I may need something more. Thanks!

A fishing tackle box or tool storage box can be good for this. Alternatively, you can just use a lot of small boxes/bags.

I picked up a large storage box and have started cutting the green foam that you use for making pillows. You can get it at a fabric store, for instance, mine I picked up at Joann Fabrics. I'll take some pictures once I get it done.

www.containerstore.com/shop/collections/hobby I don't have a link to the specific item, but while visiting a friend, ran across several nice containers. You can get small organizers and toss some foam in them to keep them safe, or larger ones and heap the minis all in there. The store also has several small containers for organizing thread and small hardware that can be used to store board game chits and components, and still fit nicely inside the board game box. These little compartments can be great for isolating minis. Unpainted metals, get separated into individual slots only if they have bendable parts. Otherwise, they all get tossed into a heap. You can fix anything that you break, and a conversion might end up looking better, so I would not worry too much about unfinished work.

I used to go to a lot of thrift stores and garage sales. Jewelry boxes! Many of them have small padded separations. Nice wood grain finish. Wife will even let you store them in the open.

For all my plastic minis I use large tackle boxes that you can get at like Wal-mart for $15 - $20. For metal painted ones like my Battletech Figures I used a storage container made by Plaino. Unfortunately the ones I use they no longer make, but they have some like them that are front loading, but not made for transporting.
