I could've sworn there was a video on this topic, but when I went looking for it, the doesn't appear to be. So, could we pretty please have a video about ways to make a river? I am thinking something that can be laid down into an outdoors set up, similar to the roads video DM Scotty did a while ago.

I imagine that the road video DM Scotty did works sufficient for this as well, barring a few minor differences. I think that using Blue as the baseline poster board color is the best to start with, and then adding highlights in the same way he described doing water for pools and fountains.
It would still be cool to see a video on it though. So it's definitely a thought to keep in mind. Maybe doing a variety of different types of rivers....like lava rivers, regular rivers, and other things like that...

If i remember correctly, he said that his Lava video could be re-purposed into a river video by changing a few base colors. The dark spots in the magma could be rocks in the river.
However, lava moves slow... I'd like to see a fast moving river, with rapids, and deep pools of swirling eddies. Basically i want to see the Colorado river IN the grand canyon

That's alotta work. I have a much easier and cheaper way to make much larger pieces that won't cost a million dollars a section. I will try and do a vid soon. I had a river section battle that was like a foot across. Try making that with the technique shown would be a nightmare...not to mention if you have a game that weekend and have a full time job.

In my opinion, it's like anything else you stumble across on the Internet. You don't have to follow the floor plan to a "T". You can grab bits and parts of a process/idea and incorporate them as you see fit. With this in mind, I look forward to seeing your video as well.

I can see splitting up the techniques to make it easy while looking awesome (And cheap too!) But I'm very interested in seeing what DM Scotty has in store

yeah... i don't like the materials used there, expensive and takes a long time to dry. Those are peices you need to get a LOT of use out of a single piece and you're planning for several weeks in advance, which is not a good idea for DMscotty's approach to terrain (quick, cheap and disposable) but is fine if you're a wargammer who'd get several hundred uses out of it.
I hope you can get the different effects (the quick moving river and the rapids as well as other stuff) out of roughly the same materials scotty!

Yup I have been looking at TerranScapes for a while now. He does some amazing things. His stuff is great but very high end. But, still alot of good ideas can be gotten from him.
