The Folkart paints that DM scotty uses in the vids (among others which make frequent video appearances thar) can be found at Wal-Mart or at Hobby Lobby. I am certain other craft supply stores have them as well. Generally speaking they are just normal acrylic paints, nothing fancy. It helps to understand that paint quality is different between brands, and while the differences are minor most of the time, it can make a difference for certain painting techniques. I find that Folkart paint is easier to use the widely applied dry brushing technique, while the other paint brand I use is better for wet paint techniques, because it is more wet out of the tube than Folkart.
Also, I would recomend you stick closely to one or two paint brands if you can help it. Colors are not universally shared across the company line, so one companies derulean blue is another's royal blue (Which is highly inaccurate and unlikely, but you get the point).

yeah one good thing I do is get a couple of crap minis/tiles/whatever and test colors/washes on them.....then strip the paint and do it again
