I have had several encounters with gelatinous cubes in my dungeons, but dont care to hand out 50+ bucks for a plastic cube. I dont know if this is something you would be willing to tackle, but I think it would be a really neat project. Great Videos btw, keep up the great work. I could only imagine how much your players appreciate your forthought and effort in your games.

one idea you may consider is to get some of that craft stuff for floral decorations...it's like a gel medium that turns solid...Hmmm, kinda drawing a blank on what it's called (or even a good description really).
Oh well. Using a glue gun for it's glue to create the same effect may be hard to accomplish (especially since it is glue, and glue sticks to whatever mold you may have in mind). Another idea might be to abstract the concept with clay and paint it to look psuedo liquidy.
I also have seen bases made with apoxy that have a clear sort of appearance (if a bit on the yellowish side). A bit expensive still (especially since you need to make a larger cube for the standard cube size...) The benefits of using a clear substance that dries into a solid is that you can place a mini into the cube to give the appearance of some sort of digestion taking place.
So...well, thar you go. some ideas. Oh, and just for the record, I love Gelatinous cubes. They makye for some of the best Traps (Especially if they are kept by Kobolds...Oh how I love those diminutive lizard-dog-men. They're so awesome...)

Excellent find matakishi, you could actually use the glue gun to make the gelatinous look on the outside.

All cool ideas. I have seen clear cast resin you can purchase but this option is a lil more expensive.

I agree with DM Scotty, resin could also be a good way to go. A lot of resins are naturally either clear or slightly tinted, which you can use for a range of cube types. You might also be able to add some paints to the resin to make various coloured cubes in a single batch.
