Hello everyone! I am so happy I stumbled upon The DMG info youtube videos! Why you may ask?!.... No you wouldn't because you already know the answer to that... Well just in case you don't it led me to DM Scotty's youtube channel, and to this wonderful little nook in the corner of the internet. First off I would like to thank all the wonderful people on this forum that inspired me to give this a shot. I never have made mini anything's let alone painted aside form digital painting, and as far as I can tell.... I'm hooked.... bad... I love doing this with a passion, and I needed this little oomph to push my D&D campaign to the next level. My wife and friends are ecstatic every time they come into my craft room and see what I am making next. Anyways enough of the thanks and what have you...
TO THE INN! Because well that's what I'm working on enjoy! P.S For scale that is Phobos (Hero Clix).
P.P.S HAPPY CRAFTING! MAY MANY BOXES BE FOUND DRY AND WROUGHT WITH POTENTIAL! THE INN STUFF!

Very cool... The bar-stools are great. And I love the under-construction look of it.
Why did you choose heroclix system? Have you explored any others? I understand not being satisfied w/ the D20, but I am just curious...

Thank you very much. As for the Heroclix I have a bunch of them. I was just using it a reference to size is all. I have ordered a hand full of minis from Reaper to get us started, and to keep the feel of D&D. But till then I am stuck with what I've got.

The models are good, and can be re-based. I just wondered if you are D&D is all. I tried hero-clix, and was very disappointed as far as dungeon delving. And, as for D&D - it's the "only if I have no other choice system," but that never happens anymore. I actually don't understand what D&D is (I mean as what I am intended to experience). I don't get any joy from that game unless the DM is talented, and why D20? Gamers don't need DM's to create a narrative experience, and SO much more often there is a greater satisfying feeling using mechanics that have an AI (I don't mean computer) to it then when DM's are used. (story is what matters to me).

Well I really enjoy being a DM myself, to me there is just something about coming up with a story line for friends to experience. Like you said the story is what matters, I love providing that story being the voice behind it all. I act out my characters giving them all personalities. A trek from one end of town to the next is never point A to point B for me. I have to make it interesting, dungeon "crawls" just don't happen with me it's a adventure and thus it needs to feel like one. I used D&D's rule set as a guideline not a set beaten path, I am the Dungeon Master I bend the world to my will not the other way around. And so I provide a fun emersive world wrought with adventure.

Thats a refreshingly different perspective kthulu, it takes me way back to the days where I occupied my fantasy gaming addiction with Fighting Fantasy stuff.. choose your own adventure books, Tunnels and Trolls (ahh now there was an awesome solo game.. that is where I learned to love world building for it's own sake).. This was also the genesis of my love of sculpture. I had a couple of action figures, but.. they don't DO anything.. they never change.. now plasticine, that can be anything! I discovered modelling putty you could bake in the oven to make bits of armour and weapons.. I made plasticine action figures. equipped them, they fought, got injuries.. I had dice, hit locations, random room and monster charts..
You're quite right, D&D is just some rules and ideas, but the people make the game.. we all have Bad DM Horror Stories.
Anyway.. Welcome to the community Warbringer! I'm loving the layout of that tavern set up just as much as I am loving the barrels and other assorted mini-carpentry.

Very nice pieces sir, thanks for sharing. I really like the corner bookshelf and the bar stools. And the keg turned out much better than I would have expected. Great work.

Thank you everyone I'm happy to be a part of this community, and thanks for all the positive responses. I think I am going to try to make a few more kegs, they will be the same size and maybe smaller if I can. But if ya'll would like I may do a little tutorial on how I did the barrel and got the curve in the planks. I would also like to make a few crates, I think that would look good in a store room. I've also added a few more painted items to the album!

Sorry for the double post. I watched DM Scotty's Purple Worm video last night, witch was awesome! So my brain went to ticking, I really liked DM Scotty's Worm but I also like the 3.0/3.5 Purple Worm. So I decided to try and make the older one. The stores in my town do not carry air dry clay so I had to go out and buy the materials to make some. Baking soda, and corn starch witch cost me close to nothing $5. I wiped up a batch witch yelled 2 pint sized bags worth, not bad if I say so myself. Instead of doing DM Scotty's TP rolls and wet paper approach I used aluminum foil to make my basic skeleton of a body, I then made the top jaw and the lower jaw separate with aluminum foil and hot glued them to the body. After that I flattened out some of the air dry clay and wrapped it around the foil the used a Popsicle stick to add a little bit of detail to the head along with some skewer points for teeth, and now we wait for it to dry. Hope it drys hard. UPDATE Purple Worm stuff! <------ (Click ME!)

Very cool! Using crumpled aluminum foil for an armature is an excellent alternative: easily molded, virtually no weight, inexpensive, readily available, and simple to use. Love the fact that you made your own air-dry clay, as well. And the final result is very nice. I, too, plan to make an older version of the Purple Worm -- I play 2nd Ed. AD&D, and that version is more like your 3.0/3.5 version, but still a bit different. I will actually be making mine more like the 1st Ed. AD&D version, as I don't care for a 'worm' with eyes on it. Am currently re-working my Beholder project (making an army of them, for an Underdark mini's game battle, more than an RPG session), so the Worm will have to wait in the projects queue... Cheers!

Very great looking work, and the aluminum foil armature opens up a lot of possibilities. Excellent!
