I'm looking to run a campaign in the Bright desert of Greyhawk.
Any videos on dunes, oasis, trees, shrubs, dungeons, etc...? If not can some be made?
Thanks!
Rick

I think the simpler elements like an oasis, would be similar to constructing a free standidng pool. Dunes could be made by stacking cardboard, and using wet toilet paper to build the shape. Palm trees can be made by taki9ng wire, folding masking tape over the ends and cutting frond shapes. The wires are then twisted together to form the trunk, splaying out the top and bottom to create the canopy and roots. This can then be covered with masking tape spiralling down the wire, or by gluing twine around the wire to create texture.

Plastic flowers from the craft store the ones that come in bunches are usually molded together at their base into one ribbed base with thinned branches that become the shoots and stems. They always looked like palm tree trunks to me ... And while you're in the faux flower section look for some plants with tropical, serrated, tear drop, or frond-like leaves (hopefully on the above mentioned trunk like base) they are only a few bucks a piece, and you got the makings of some damn fine palm trees. Oh and for foxtail palms go to the pet isle of your local box store they should have a pack of plastic aquarium plants for a couple of bucks called ... Well foxtails you just have to glue them to a trunk. Brown painted BBs or beads would make nice coconuts while I'm at it .... I'm at a loss if you want banana bunches. Though I guess that would be more jungle than desert .... Oh yah while I was perusing the local dollar store for Halloween items for crafting I noticed various craft moss (you'd find it at a craft store too I assume) the Spanish moss looked like a grayish burnt-tan flattened tumbleweed it could be ripped up and used for tumbleweeds or for bramble-like bushes. Cacti could be made from baking clay or maybe the tropical trunk-like plastic flower bunch base (say that ten times fast hehe ...) sorry I don't have anything for Joshua trees. Lastly hit the hardware store for some rigid pink or blue foam insulation it carves and sands fairly easily. Just add a sandy coat of paint maybe a bit of real sand or baking soda for more texture depending on what you're going for and then you've got dunes a plenty for the amount of foam you get in a (I believe a $10 4'x8') sheet of insulation.
