I needed an Earth Elemental fast and cheap for this weeks game. I wanted one that looked like it had been a pile of gray stone boulders that had raised itself off the ground. I tried glueing some rocks together but was extremely unhappy with the result as it was heavy and felt like it wouldn't stay together during play. So I started playing around with some common household items and cobbled together one I liked. Ingredients: Hot Glue Tin Poker chip for base Paint Elmer's School Glue Plastic Poker chip for base I started by rolling various balls of tinfoil in a few different sizes. I compressed the tinfoil as much as I could to make it more solid and sturdier. I also used a pair of pliers to squich parts of the arms legs and head to shape it. I then pieced the tinfoil shapes together in ways I liked to make a vaguely humanoid mass. I then hot glued those masses together. I spray painted it with a cheap dollar can of matte black spray paint. Then dry brushed it with 2 shades of gray paint. I then finished it off by painting the entire thing in Elmer's School Glue (since it dried thin and clear) to prevent any tinfoil from unraveling. The final miniature is light but strong and holds up to handling extremely well. For a mini made on no budget I'm extremely happy with it. I may revisit it after the game and paint in some more details like bits of grass or dirt clinging to the stone. I will probably rebase it and flock the new base as well. But for now it will work as is.

I also tried to glue some rocks, but the result was terrible. Nice result with this one.

Brilliant! I may copy this wholesale... Looks to be a 24 HD Elemental? Big, bad, and looking for some "Clobberin' Time" crunchiness! Fantastic ingenuity -- love it! I may build on this idea/concept for the other elementals. They come in three sizes: 8,12, and 24 HD creatures, which I have always assumed corresponded to their physical sizes -- makes it easier to differentiate between the different types, at a glance. Tried using ShrinkArt, but I don't really care for the flat finished product. This hits all the right buttons, especially the cool factor, and the budget! Thanks for sharing! Cheers!
