I like to toss abnormal spells into traps. For example: Healing spells.
Trigger: Magical Description: Some kind of holy symbols of a good god or runes on the ground. You are clearly in a room full of magical runes, they will trigger healing spells of whatever is level appropriate. Effect: Unleash a horde of undead or some big one on the party. They can fight head on, using the runes to heal themselves, or lure the undead into the runes and severely damage them.
I used this in an encounter. It was incredibly fun.
The big-bad was stronger than the group should be able to handle. His soul separated from his body. (making an undead version) They used the rune heals to keep themselves alive and tank the living half, and used the rune heals to damage the undead half, trying to avoid it. To make their lives easier, they only needed to kill one of the two for the encounter to end.
I used poker chips for the runes, but I really wish that I had a crafted tile at that time.
It was a fun encounter, where the trap was used by the group, more than against. (they had to keep the living half from using them)
If insane dungeon architects fill their dens with hazardous traps, I don't see any reason that clerics would not use them to ward off undead in their shrines or temples.

That's a cool idea for fighting undead (nice touch making the boss half & half too gives the game a bit of strategy) & I approve of the logic behind your idea & vehemently agree clerics & the like would set healing points throughout there places of worship for not only repelling undead, but to heal themselves & visitors alike. I'm gonna have to borrow the idea for a ruin temple I'm planning & I'll be sure to add plenty of impassible debris & a few pits to make the movement within more than just difficult hehe ...
