Christmas is a a great time to find all kinds of cheap interesting bits you can scrounge for projects. I particularly like cheap plastic icicles. You can use them for all sorts of interesting embellishments. I got each of these for a buck. Attachments:

I found some big clear icicles Christmas ornaments at Dollar Tree. They are 2 for a dollar. I sliced them up with a dremel ( a saw should work as well) and got 5 ice chunks out of each icicle. They made perfect ice formations for a ice cavern I'm making. I can see them easily making great bases for crystal formations as well. Heres a pic with an original icicle up top and unpainted ones I've cut up and based. Another angle to show scale compared to minis better. Finished ones.

Very cool, please post pics of ice cavern when it is complete. I have been wanting to make one of my own and would love to have something to go on.

I wonder if you left them clear and painted the base different colors, you could use them for a crystal cavern!!!

Those look fantastic. Although I would have left the tips the clear plastic they were and panted up from the base in a gradient so it would look something like ice cubes. Great work though
