Hey guys, thought I would start one thread to share my stuff in. I'll post new stuff in it as I start new projects. Here's a gatehouse I just finished for the Madness at Gardmore Abbey module. I got the idea for the elevated top tile from Eviole's "Two Story Building Thread." Since there could be attacks from the guard tower, I wanted this to have a 3d element so battles could take place both indoors and outdoors simultaneously. Once players go inside, the levels can be separated for easy play. Forgot to paint the stairs on the bottom level, so still have to go back and do that. Just after I finished painting the gatehouse, I got the idea to cut an old black t-shirt and cut two pieces to hang from the top tower, not only to add to the 3d element, but also as a fog or war to conceal the contents of the bottom level. I'll also sponge some gray onto the drapes to make it match the stone look. I'll post an updated pic if i ever follow through with making them.

I'm planning to make some more terrain pieces for the Madness module, including a few ruins to represent potential battles in the orc-infested village. I've decided, partially based on the pictures of the Abbey that Wizards included in the module, to make the stone work more white than I normally would. Here's a small ruin I made. I mentioned in another thread that I found foam core at the Dollar Tree that I thought would be useful for tiles. I used it for the gatehouse, but the paper tended to separate from the foam when painted. I like not having the corrugation, but it was a pain having to re-attach the paper where it pealed. For the ruins, I pealed it off each side then rolled a small rock over it to indent the texture. It's too think and curved in part, but I like the texture. EDIT: Updated with better photos.

Here's some random furniture I made. I tried to find an easy way to do tables, and these turned out ok, but the scale is a bit off. Should have made the small tables bigger and separated the seats farther. I think the small ones will work fine for a tavern, though. Crates, made from wooden cubes. I use an old pen to carve planks and wood grain into things I make from wood. DMG style treasure chests. For the open one, I put the treasure in before painting the chest, and didn't want to try to paint around it. Instead, I, used a solution made by leaving some steal wool to soak in some white vinegar for a few weeks. Painted it onto the wood, which causes some chemical reaction after a few minutes. Still dulled the treasure though, so I had to add some more glitter. These are just mini pickle barrels from the craft store, rather crudely painted. EDIT: added finished barrels.

This was actually the first DM Scotty tile I made, used in Reavers of Harkenwold adv. I made it out of foamcore, which doesn't take paint well at all. The steps are terrible and the wood floor doesn't look great, but I like the way the stone floor turned out.

I made some flat rock pieces that I needed for a canyon in the Dungeon Magazine adventure "Nightmare Unleashed." I got the idea for making them from DM Scotty's Gorge video (can't remember the full name, check later). I decided to use some bark I had handy instead of cardboard and to try to make the pieces reusable. They don't play as easy as cardboard would, but I've gotten quite a bit of use from them already. These two are from Nightmares Unleashed. I didn't have anything close to kuthriks, so I just used spiders and rats from WHQ. If you haven't noticed, I need to get my minis painted and based, but the painting is beyond my capability. some others, Vine horrors blocking a cave entrance.

A small stable for the Nightmare Unleashed adventure, 2.5d style. I made a thatch roof for it, but don't seem to have a picture with it. The wood on the outside is a fence, with the posts. If I was making another tile like this, I would use match sticks for the fence rails.

Here are some more pictures of the trees I posted in the Wilderness Tiles thread. I didn't have any pictures from in game before, but one of my players just sent them to me. More in the original thread, here. repost

Thanks you! I can only take credit for following directions well. This is all basic DM's Craft stuff that I never would have thought of on my own.

Some great encounter locations. I bet these really brought the game to life.

I love the platforms inside the tree foliage. that is a great idea. I also like the 2.5D table and seats. Much easier to craft than regular furniture but still gives a nice representation. thanks for posting all the pics.

I definitely like the 2.5 table and seats as well. I've been thinking that I need a generic inn/tavern tile or something, and the 2.5 table and chairs are definitely interesting to help save space.

I love your work Bloodchoke (and if you can do terrain this well, you can paint minis. It just takes a good set of paints and practice.) It was cool to finally see the scale on that Reaper young dragon, that you used as the green dragon. i have been debating on getting one and I will for sure now. Your players must have really enjoyed the games with terrain like that! Great work!

monkeywithtacos makes a good point. I've been eyeballing that dragon for some time now, and now I know I can go ahead and buy a ton of dragons. The size is nice.

monkeywithtacos makes a good point. I've been eyeballing that dragon for some time now, and now I know I can go ahead and buy a ton of dragons. The size is nice. Especially since, yesterday I think it was, Reaper released a huge new batch of their new Bones line, including several beautiful dragons, and tbh the prices are pretty damn good comparatively. Hell, their "Kaladrax (sp?) reborn" dracolich takes up more space than the Thanksgiving turkey on a table and is only $80.00..... My wallets gonna be empty from now til the Apocalypse I am thinking...

Thanks a lot for all the kind words, I really appreciate it. There are some awesome, very skilled DMs here, and I've learned tons from you guys, so seriously, it means a lot. I love the platforms inside the tree foliage. that is a great idea. I also like the 2.5D table and seats. Much easier to craft than regular furniture but still gives a nice representation. thanks for posting all the pics. Thank you! This is kind of like if a Gracie were to compliment my jiu jitsu. Your videos have made my games so much better and more fun, both to plan and play. Great work! Thanks, Monkey. I'm trying to cut my teeth with the miniature painting. The green dragon was my first attempt, using some craft paint and some ink I got for cheaps off the clearance rack. It was easy, but I'm not so sure about pieces with more fine details. I have a few more Bones to practice on, and as you mentioned in your other post, the MOTHER LOAD is finally available. So pissed I missed that Kickstarter.

All of these tiles pulled my eye in. They made me want to dust off the spell book, don my traveler's outfit, and go seeketh my fortune. I really liked your take on the trees -- the "platform" with the foliage on top is a great idea, and gives an easy way for characters to climb up in them. Also, the small detail of the the rock-lined path by the stable really caught my eye. That kind of detail goes a very long way to making it a convincing piece -- as if somebody actually lived and worked there, you know?
Loved the crates, chests, and barrels. I will grab my glue gun and glitter and check out DMG's vids on those.
I thought you did great work and I really enjoyed looking at your tiles.

Thanks. The trees are definitely my favorite creation so far, and since the elf ranger in our party loves to climb trees and shoot people, they've been pretty useful. I'm going to try to make some smaller ones at some point, as these are pretty huge scale-wise and take up quite a bit of room on the table.

A small cave I made for a follow up to the Nightmares Unleashed sidetrek adventure. One of the PCs, since defeating Redra's nightmare, had been plagued by nightmares of his own and was drawn to this cave deep within the Cloakwood forest. Inside, a very dangerous demon resided, trapped by powerful magic. Only during a double full moon, a rare event, would the forest shift to reveal the cave. It was a small window the demon had to lure the PC here in hopes of possessing him and escaping his confines. Even though it's just a small one-off cave (the rest was ToM), it's one of my favorite pieces. I just put the mini here for scale.

These tiles were for Chris Perkins' Storm Tower adventure, from Dungeon Magazine. They turned out pretty terrible, but I thought I would share them anyway. Some of the accessories for this are missing. Approaching the ruined tower. The Tomb below the tower. The scaffolding here looks awful... Missing the bubbling cauldron here. The statues are just crudely painted minis from the Weapons and Warriors game that one of my players donated. Ran out of paint for this, so I used a satin black spray and hot glue for texture. It turned out kinda weird looking and a bit shiny.

And finally, some 3d stuff I made before I found the DM's Craft... This is a house I made for the first encounter of the Reavers of Harkenwold. Stone circle, originally for Reavers. Those are just shameless photo ops. Anyone recognize the fire elemental? Think bad CGI... A watchtower made from packaging foam, for the Redbox adventure. Castle walls for the Iron/Harken Keep. Not really the greatest piece, but I use for a DM screen now. The tower serves a dual purpose of holding markers, and for catching action points. In my game, when a player uses an AP, they can attempt to launch one off a Weapons and Warriors catapult into the tower. If they make it, they get to keep their action point. And that's pretty much all the stuff I've made so far.

Damn you have been busy!! holy guacomole those look great. Had to chuckle at the Quaggoth in the first pic. I have a pair and think they are some of the coolest minis I have seen in a while. As to painting minis, get some of the Reaper, Vallejo or Games Workshop paints...those Apple Barrel ones are great for tiles and terrain, but not so much on minis in my experience.
Your tiles are seriously awesome to see and your players must seriously enjoy your games! Can't wait to see more!

One more tile that I forgot about. This was actually the very first piece of terrain I crafted, using packaging foam. It took so much time and effort, and only got played one time.
