I have a game this Saturday and I am going to film it if my players agree. I bought more memory so I should have plenty for the session. I have also been banging around in my head a totally measureless system and I am going to spring it on the group. As most of you know I play 4E so this should be interesting but I think it will be really fun. My system involves having a movement phase where all parties move and react to others movement then an action phase where people can take actions. If I like how this turns out I will have vids detailing the concept. My hope is that no measurement will enhance the roleplay and speed up combats.

I have no doubt that it can be done. There are games that work well without measuring distances. I enjoy the level of difficulty tracking distance adds to combat. I am certain you will all still have fun, just not what I personally want in my tabletop rpg.

There is a problem with everyone move, then everyone action. I used to do this originally in wargames before my group had actually bought any rule books and realised it was move/action or action/move. The problem was that for ranged fighters they could not get a shot off before ending up in h2h. For close combat players the opponents could move away prior to being attacked. That may not be how you are attempting to do it, but it is my 2 cents worth.

Some games/wargames split the actions into three categories: ranged, move, melee. That addresses the issue with ranged not being able to keep range.
Another issue I've seen is that the whole move closed the gap a little too quickly. Breaking it up with sides alternating halfmove-halfmove gives a nice flow, but may not be needed.

...think I have it worked out but I will have to see how it works at the table.
