So I have been working on a lot of the small end stuff for my 2.5 terrain (torches, open graves, fireballs, corpse markers, and trees) I am still working on my first set of actual tiles. Anyways, I have decided to try and make something I had not yet seen made by the awesome DMScotty.. Huts... I will be making 9 of these (12 if my daughter would finish off her Pringles)and will post pics.. I have 3 that are just about finished, adding some minor details left to do but all in all I am liking them so far. These are really easy to make as they have taken me so far a total of 12 hours to make these, drying time for paint included. Materials needed: Pringles can (what do you know, the motto is true, "Once you pop, you can't stop!" though I bet they did not intend for this.) Hot glue gun All purpose glue Water Papertowels Card stock Bamboo Skewers Paint Flocking material I will try to find my camera and see if I can make a vid in the style of DMScotty to show the process I used. Here is one that is still getting the flocking added, as you can see I am using the all-purpose sand, but will be adding a couple of extra things to it when that is dry. I am hoping that it will come out looking ok.. Any feedback is appreciated, this is my first attempt at making something like this and I know it is not perfect, but nothing in the world truely is..

I tried your method for the creature lair with the modeling paste, didn't turn out the greatest for me, I found that using the hot glue gun "hay" method seemed to work better... All in all you have been an inspiration DMScotty..

Thanks everyone, I just figured I would try something new. So far I really like how they look. I have to dig out my camcorder and see about making a vid on how I made them. Wont be anything as fancy as DMScotty's of course, but if anyone wants to see the method I used, let me know and I will try to make the video Monday or Tuesday...

I think it looks great. The kiddie section of our zoo has a genuine imitation African mud hut thing, and except for exterior paint details (native African tribal designs), yours looks just like it. Excellent props for your players!
Are your PCs playing in a savannah location? If so, you could also add a boma -- which (I think) is a big thorn fence that encloses a living area, or domestic animals. I think bomas are taken down during the day, and that they completely enclose the camp at night (no gate or doors), but you might have to read up on that. I had originally heard they were used to keep out lions, but then I listened to an interview with an ex-South African and she said they used them to impede hyenas, (which are apparently more persistent than lions). Anyway, I think your props look cool and I love the textures you achieved.

Thank you.
So far no they have not reached it yet, though the Bomas are a great idea. I will definitely look into them a bit more and see what they look like and then see what mats I will need to make them.
