I made my first few tiles (seven) and hall sections - one tile a large 20" by 20" tile bent up at the corners. A friend suggested slightly wetting the back and placing weight on the tile so it would go flat. I'm trying this - any other suggestions on how to prevent this or how to fix it if it happens? Thanks for your time.

Ive read somewhere that it can help to make the base of two cardboard pieces, them lying against each other "grainwise", if that makes any sense - english isnt my main language, so sorry if it sounds weird

Thanks juvenihilist. I will try two pieces for the base on larger tiles. On a side note your English is great. It is my main language and I often get it wrong.
