I am running a scenario where the dungeon has areas that are flooded with water and I wanted to create water pools that could be moved from tile to tile. Here is the finished pool in place. Attachments:

I took a piece of glass and sprayed it with Armorall to make the glass less sticky. I guess you could use other products, the idea is to make the glass slippery enough to release the cool glue gun glue. Then just ooze the glue onto the glass into the pattern you would like. Attachments:

I painted the underside with turquoise and dark blue to represent water that is shallow or deep. You could use the same technique to make lava flows, just paint it yellow, oranges and reds. Attachments:

Same hallway with water removed. This gives you the ability to reuse tiles since you can add the pools or lava areas on pre-existing tiles. Attachments:

Excellent! Wow I see what you mean about using the glue gun instead of epoxy, that works a treat. Was the Armorall very effective? I am wondering if you could use it as a mold release for a simple cast or barrels, chests, etc, using the glue gun.

That's a really nice result, and best of all, no shopping list. You bonus points for the method in the category of 'using things you already have.'

AJ The Armorall worked great on glass and cooling glue, not sure how it would work with epoxy since hardening is a chemical reaction and not a thermal one. You can always do a test run on some mold material and see if it will work.

You could also try using cling wrap. Might make an interesting texture at the bottom, too.

Awesome idea! I need a river for the Orcs of Stonefang pass module and didn't really want it to be something i couldn't use again. May give this a try, thanks!!

if you wanted a more reflective water feature, you could use tin foil as the base then paint over it with translucent paints...

Looks awesome! I am going to give it a try tomorrow.
The cling wrap is a great idea... I am going to try using this to make some form-fitted pools to the edges of a few of my tiles.

Genius! Try clear caulk sealant (it's still clear ... so it should paint just as well & you get to save glue sticks for other projects yay!) on wax paper next time it peels off the wax paper very easily or hell you can just use a 5-in-1 or spatula to peel it off any expendable surface if it really came down to it hehehe ....
