Cheap wooden shapes I purchased at a craft store. These would be great for braziers. flic.kr/p/dimghT

My Michael's doesn't seem to have stuff like that. Maybe I need to look harder.

My Michael's doesn't seem to have stuff like that. Maybe I need to look harder. That sucks, try Hobby Lobby or JoAnn fabrics or sometimes even Walmart.

It seems that not all crafting stores are alike. Another good item, with the Hobby lobby 40% coupon, are the pillars in the cake decorating section.

I use the wooden squares and rounds to re-base miniatures. They work great and are way cheaper than the plastic ones.

My Michael's doesn't have diddly in Woodsies SKUs, maybe only five or six. The Hobby Lobby is better, but still doesn't have half of the stuff we've seen in the videos/forums. Walmart and Meijer each have about three SKUs each. . . apparently the only "crafting" that goes on in Cincinnati involves putting rhinestones on vases. We do have a few Woodcraft stores, which I am sure I will be able to find some neat things; but it will probably be about three times the cost.
As to rebasing minis, the best thing I have found so far is 3/8" washers from Fastenal. $4.50 for a bag of 50, and they're nice and heavy (about twice the weight of a HeroQuest goblin). Makes them way more stable.

Guess it must be by location. My Michael's has a whole aisle of just small wooden stuff.
