so as i stated before my group decided to finish out the current dungeon (? i hate that word) and then go grid less. I started making my 2.5d tiles today (surprisingly it relaxes me to craft this stuff) So i will put up those pictures with a quick explanation. But here's my first jump into grid less, and that's the measuring sticks. Be gentle Attachments:

The first floor (unpainted) of the local Hadron Homestead. Site of a grisley murder. The players are sent by the local sheriff (as the constable and 90% of the law keepers are corrupt) to find out exactly what happened as no one else seems to care or is spending the time to look into it. The glue trails are the gorey mess of the bodies being dragged through the house. It doesnt feel completley done to me. Suggestions? i was thinking more patches of blood and core. Ill have furniture to spice it up but. Attachments:

And heres the basement. I was going to make it a hidden passage but opted instead to show a blown out wall. The murderers tunneled into the house through the basement and stole away the family members. It will be the players responability to find and save who is left. This tile is also unpainted fyi Attachments:

Tiles look good also like the way your sticks look.

when representing blood and gore, you can go two ways. One is to be excessive, and that's where hot glue is really useful. DM-Scotty has alot of examples of how to use excessive gore representations in his vids/pics, like the sacrificial alter (Which inspired me to make my own, even though I don't have a need for it just yet. Twas the second piece I made) or the Decapitator Shrine.
BUT if you just want a blood trail, or want to be conservative on your gore, then simply stipling on or brushing (Neither too dry nor too wet) on a trail of blood to the tile after it's regular features works just as well. Then get some of that water base stuff (I don't have a large option of art supplies unless I travel about an hour away from home, so I just use Mod Podge) and apply it over the areas where the blood/gore are. Viola! Insta blood.
Also, when crafting your crime scene, keep in mind the manner in which the victim was killed. Some methods tend to be bloodier than others. Unless the murderer is incredibly sadistic (Or strong), a solid thump to the head with a blunt object doesn't leave too much splatter, but does leave a nice puddle of blood where the body falls (Imagine scenes where the victim falls to the ground lifeless and suddenly a pool of blood forms around their head...)
A hack-n-slash scene usually results in directional spray...the more slashes that occur, the more directional spray. If the killer is a psychotic madman, than there may be all sorts of things like bloody hand prints to weird finger-paint like drawings, etc. Bolts (Such as cross bow or arrows) usually don't leave any spray, but may form puddles...depends on if the projectile peirces the victim's body completely.
So, just some things to consider. When crafting stuff like this, you may want to get a stiff bristled brush (Like a chisel brush) and run your thumb on it while facing it towards the direction you want the "spray" to go. That will help to make a blod splatter spray on your board, but it can be tricky to get just right. Keep that in mind, and forgive yourself for not having it scientifically perfected like you see in CSI, and it should look good.

their just a hair shorter than the normal dnd minis and they come casted in pewter and they have to be painted but their good. i believe i bought the towns people one, with the witch and wretch figures. i have quite a few of them painted already i put some pictures up tonight. but their worth the buy if you want non combatants to float around. I havnt used them yet but i like them. give em a 8/10

and now for the dungeon or at least beginings of such. im going to have the town they are at be attacked by the band of orcs, goblins, and hobgoblins. their going to steal away with several items of great importance to the town history as well as some of the villagers. the players will need to fend off the town from the assault (im working on some roof designs) and then interrogate a captive and finally track down and attack the orc base which is going to be a forgotten tower deep inside the woods. Their will be 3 levels they have to climb through to retrieve a key to get into the bottom catacombs where their current bbeg is residing ( al rach hazzad an evil necromancer). so heres the first floor. youll notice the interior walls that lock of a section. thats because their will be a door here that an orc is hidden behind. The door locks from the inside (but the top floor boss holds a key) and the room has a grate which leads to the cellar/old catacombs. Attachments:
