Here is a tile I made for an encounter with an aquatic demon that drags bodies to a distant lagoon and feeds on them. The players see the glint of metal across the algae tinted lake and take a raft to explore the distant shore. They find the beach is covered with dismembered bodies and scattered armor....the demon attacks. Attachments:

I also scattered about small bits of bent metal meant to represent the scattered pieces of a nice set of armor. The breastplate is in the lagoon

In the next chapter of our adventure the players are going to make their way down into the underdark through a fissure that has a series of metal grate landings and stairs. At the base of the cavern lives a cryohydra that they must defeat to enter the cave system. I have been working on this design to create the 3D environment so they can battle the dragon at the various levels. The dragon attacks can actually cause the stairs to collapse so it is all modular to take that into account. The stairs are based on the quick stair design i posted elsewhere, the dragon was purchased at Michael's using one of those 50% off coupon they give out every couple of months. I used window screen to make the platforms and I am working on painting the grid pattern on the stairs. Any advice? Attachments:

Before they make it to the fissure they meet an crazy old man who lives in a hut and they get into a battle with a flying red dragon (Shackled City module). Here is his hut, a small wood pile and axe. In addition I placed a Umber Hulk I have been working on, it is real beetle head grafted onto a comic figure of the Hulk ($1 bin at game store) and intense modeling to shape new arms and legs. I an unhappy with the paint job...3rd one and it still looks blah... Attachments:

My son was playing the new DLC for Skyrim and they had this cool monster that would spit out entangling vines against the player during battle. I have decided to modify a monster the players will encounter to have this ability. The monster will basically 'cast' the spell Black Tentacles, as described in the text: This spell conjures a field of rubbery black tentacles, each 10 feet long. These waving members seem to spring forth from the earth, floor, or whatever surface is underfoot—including water. They grasp and entwine around creatures that enter the area, holding them fast and crushing them with great strength. I made these by holding between needle nose pliers a section of old model kit sprue that I waved over the heat of a gas stove top until it softened. Once pliable you gently (GENTLY) pull it apart and then as it hardens you can twirl it to create the shapes. I couple of tries you will quickly learn to feel the plastic and know how fast and hard you can pull it apart and bend it. Not hard at all. Attachments:
