I made them Arcane. So my players (Mages) had a chance to battle wills for control. They won, after sustaining some major DMG. They where sure to return the favor Attachments:

The balista are made out of cardboard and toothpicks. The bow part was made out of a bendy straw.I made working wheels by placing a straw underneath to run the axle through. Attachments:

Wow. The bendy straw part is brilliant! It's amazing all the things that can be used for this craft and entertaining to see the clever ways people put things to use. I'd never have thought of that. Cheers!
