Well, I've been DMing for a couple years, and then stumbled on DM Scotty's AMAZING videos. I thought I'd like to give it a go. Here is my first attempt at a dungeon. It is going to be an ice cave dungeon (hopefully that was clearly apparent.) Haha. I haven't brought this to my players yet, but I'm pretty excited. I also did make that dragon. I made it out of some party favors. A bat (which I cut the wings off of) and a lizard. I added some texture with hot glue and added some details with cardboard. I haven't finished painting it yet, but would happily do a close-up once I get some more color on it. I will be updating this thread as I finish making the dungeon over the course of this next week. If anyone has any advice or ideas, please don't be shy. Attachments:

An ice dungeon? Yep, clearly apparent! And I absolutely love your dragon, brilliant!

Maybe it's finished. I wasn't super happy with the way it came out, but hey, for 40 cents it's hard to complain. I'll keep practicing. Attachments:

I like your dragon...it got me to go down to the local $ store and see if I could cobble together one. I ended up cheating and buying a nice dragon at Michael's using the 50% off coupon they gave out last week.
In the bigger picture I always try to balance the cost benefit in making a monster. You can work hours on a creature and they can then kill it in a 40 minute battle and it is tossed to the trash heap of conquered monsters. Never to be seen again.
I often hear myself saying...that is good enough..I have other things to build. I will post my Umber Hulk that I just made out of combining a DC heroes clix figure with real beetle parts.

I plan on repainting the dragon as a different monster after this dungeon. Kind of an all purpose young adult dragon.
Besides, that's the whole thing with this dungeon making experience. It's going to take a lot longer to build a large dungeon than it will to go through it, but it'll be worth it to give my players a truly extraordinary experience.
I showed one of my players a sneak peek and she said she was, and I quote "So f**king nerd pumped that it just can't be handled." To create a a world takes longer than to walk through it, but I hardly find that a deterrent.

That was going to be my response to Argiope as well.
Take your monster that you worked hard on, and simply repaint him, perhaps add a physical change as well. And behold, you have a completely different enemy.

That ice cave is sweet looking. I like the hot glue tree root technique you used to make the ice come out of the wall, nice touch!

Here's another room that's about finished. The concept is that a wizard has locked a door (that isn't there yet) but he also made it a puzzle to get there. The ice has zero friction and once you are on it, you can't change direction or stop unless you hit something (i.e. the stone pillars). If you don't do it right then you fall into the icy water below, take damage and must swim to the ledge you see coming out of the water. Kinda a classic ice floor maze from video games. What do you think? Attachments:

Ice Cave update: I was goofing around with some hot-glue and thought I'd try and make an Ice elemental monster. I think it turned out really nice. All I did was make a hot-glue figure lying down (on glass, so I could pry it up when it cooled) then hot glued it to a glass gem (like the kind you put in the bottom of fish bowls) and then added details with a knife and more glue. I had a little bag of the larger gems, and I think it worked out nicely, but I'm sure it would also work with the smaller ones. Attachments:

Those tiles looks fantastic! Very nice painting, and cool idea using the semi-transluciness of hot glue for the mini.

Those ice tiles are (ahem) the hotness! They turned out well and have got me thinking about how to bust some out.
Question: On that second pic, the one with the pools, the front of the tile looks sparklely. Was that the light or did you use something special? I'm trying to find a low cost alternative for snow.
Thanks- DM Z

Great looking tiles and Elemental. I was wondering if you played WoW in your past. The ice cave with the dragon in it reminded me very much of WoW terrain.
