I use acrylic "apple barrel" and a little bit of "craft smart" paint and it won't water down. It doesn't want to mix with the water for some reason, kinda like oil and water. I CANNOT mix it for the life of me! Please help! Thanks!

That is very strange. Craft paints should thin with water very easily.

I have not had any problem watering mine down and I use the same kinds as you. I know there is a medium that you can use that is like $13 for a large bottle, otherwise just mix the two together should work. What is the ratio you are using?

I never used to use the craft paints, but the other day I went in to grab some metallics for the steam punk stuff I am doing. I wasn't really paying attention, grabbed some purples while I was there, grabbed the metallics after and done. The metallics were not acrylic, they were enamel and I had not noticed when I was at the store. They are not playing well with others. I can still use them, but they definitely react differently. Maybe what you grabbed was not acrylic?

When I need to thin those types of paints for my airbrush I use windolene. It is much cheaper than the medium. Cost me £1.69 for 750ml. I think I have seen some american's say its called crystal clear?
I use it 50/50 with water.
