One of the perks to morking in a machine shop is that we get some pretty cool, and unusual cardboad pieces. We recently added a new inspection machine, and the guys asked me if I wanted some of the thick cardboard tubes some of the pieces came in.
"OH YES", I said. And the wheels began to turn.... And so a castle idea was born. Nothing unusual in that here! I'm planning on using the tube, now cut into four 6" pices fro the toers. Two of them will form the frame of a gatehouse, and the other two will be crenellated. I plan on using either a foamcore or card to build the keep tower, and attach it with walls to the other towers and gatehouse. The whole thing will be able to break down into component parts for ease of storage.
It is going to be a small castle for now, because quite frankly a big one is a pain to store. One of the wall sections will have an attached stable. I might make two keeps. One for a "good" guy and another one for an "evil" lord or wizard or whatever. If that is the case I may make en extra set of walls to attach them correctly. Either way, it will be a fun project!
