I've had no reply from the original creator of the forum (hasbinbad) so it looks like the move may go ahead. Proboards are treating the new forum as a brand new forum so members would unfortunately have to reregister.

In that case, I would propose to have a new forum hosted by another hosting provider. If we know we have to move and register again anyways, we should go for a provider with better service to avoid problems in the future. I know this is a royal pain in the rump, but we should see this as a chance to improve this community and to ensure it grows in the future. A growing community at a bad provider is like building a house on sand: All might go well for a time, but ultimately it is doomed to fail.
Just my two copperpieces...

Guess the screenshots I've been saving weren't taken in vain after all .... Well que sera, sera if we have to move so be it. So long as the members all know I'm sure they'll register at the new forum. I would like to see If I can't get a little help finishing up saving threads though. The general crafting, dragon's den, & community pictures gallery have a laundry list of threads ... Guess I'll keep plugging away then. Thanks for keeping us all up to date madladdesigns. ;D

One general question: After we have moved to a new board, will the old one (i.e. this one) continue to be accessible? If the answer is YES, then we will ahve all the time in the world to transfer the content to our new homebase.

If you're wanting to back up your posts I'd start doing so because it's highly likely we are on the move, more info to come.

I'll try to back a couple threads up later tonight. I'm just curious what everyone's opinion on what needs to be backed up is. Do we want to keep all the comments for each thread, or just reupload the photos onto the new forum? The second would be much easier, but some of the discussions in the comments are really important. Also, will we just rewrite comments or just upload screenshots?
Either way, I suggest we start by everyone working on backing up their own threads. We can then post here what we've got done to keep track of it, then just split the remaining threads (from members who don't post anymore, etc). Posting them here I think would be easier and more accessible than the shoutbox.
Also, much thanks to Agsupernaturalfe for all the work you've put into backing threads up!!

Hi guys I know how much of a pain it can be to do these kind of moves (from experiences in both the corporate IT world as well as a hobby webmaster) and I have used tools like WebReaper to trawl and backup many sites and forums in the past. Not sure if anyone has considered similar solutions in the past or not but I just thought I'd throw it out there because I love all the work that DM Scotty and you guys have produced. It's not only rekindled my interest in playing RPGs again after 12 years out but also made me pick up my own glue gun and boxcutter! WebReaper can be found at: www.webreaper.net/And you can probably google other alternatives with phrases like 'web spider', 'web crawler', etc. If you think it's a possible solution, I'm happy to donate my 100mb connection and 4TB NAS drives to grab what I can. Toodles. ADDENDUM: Just tried to download Webreaper and I'm getting errors.I don't know if anyone else can get it and it's just an issue at my end or if the intwerwebs have finally snapped enroute. I last used the software around 2004 and it worked fine. The latest version is a newer (and claims to be bug free) but sadly I deleted my copy many years ago when I left the corporate IT workplace. Ah well, it was an idea at least.
