First, I would like to apologize for doing so many posts in a short time. I am on holiday of the work and the faculty, and would like to take the time. This new model on which I am working, was inspired by films such as The Mummy (Boris Karloff 1932) and the following trilogy The Mummy 1999/2012. It was recently launched in Brazil Savage Worlds RPG, and I found it perfect for adaptation. The story will be passed during the 30s, and I had never seen a Pyramid Dungeon! :-) The same model can be used for games like Call of Cthulhu or Al-Qadim, and or anyone with Egyptian theme. For this model I used: Styrofoam: 5cm and 2cm Styrofoam cutter Latex paint Pigment for latex paint Brushes Soldering iron (not sure how is called in english). The entire model was sculpted in styrofoam cutter styrofoam and soldering iron. The piece with the angled cut I then carved the stone blocks with the soldering iron. * * * this is the end result of all carved out and the rooms inside!

That is definitely going to be a nice set piece. Having a functional interior is nice. Most pyramid set pieces that I'm used to seeing are pyramid/ziggurat terrain that is usually fought on top of rather than inside. I'm looking forward to the paint job and the finished piece.

Giving continuity to the model! To apply the texture to the model, I used a spray bottle with glue diluted in water! It is very important to apply a layer of glue diluted with water to spray apply the sand at the points where you want more or less texture, then the covering part with another layer of glue diluted with water to set the sand. (Textured paint can also be used, but it is a very large model, and piles of rubble be more natural with sand.) Sand has applied with glue! The sand did not loose after receiving an extra layer of glue with water. More details with sand. O modelo com a tinta base para o pincel seco. Miniatures for comparison! Later i bring the painted model.

The pyramid looks imposing and impressive. My PC would definitely be going into it for the loot!
I really liked the soldering iron technique for carving the stone block texture.

Hello guys! I post here the pics of the pyramid model painted! I also made a short video to present the model with miniatures inside. Instead of the classic gray inside and outside, I decided to use a yellowish, found most appropriate! Hope you enjoy! Thank you all for the kind words of support and tips! :-) Note: I apologize for the English! Still not good! :-P (Especially in the video! What a shame!) In case the video does not open, here's the address!:
In the video, you met Gandalf the Grey, this is Legolas! The blonde cat! The sand applied with glue diluted in water left a very cool look!

The only Portuguese I know I get from Google. Don't worry about your English! The finished pyramid model looks great.

The final painted pyramid looks great, good video also! I think your English is fine. If you're not happy with the yellow sand, you could make a brown or tan wash, and brush that over the sand. It will darken the color, but not change it completely.
In case you don't know how to do a wash, you take the paint and thin it with water if it's latex paint and thinner if it's enamel paint. The wash will darken the color but since it's watered down, it won't cover up the yellow, just darken it some what. You could also try to dry brush a tan or brown over top the yellow, which would darken it some, just be careful when dry brushing because it will cover the color more than a wash would. If you're unsure about how it will turn out, you might want to make a small piece to experiment on so you don't destroy your pyramid!
Keep up the great work!

When dry brushing, it is best to have a darker base then use a lighter color for dry brushing. Dry bushing a dark color over a light color tends to give a dirty appearance, in my experience.

That finished piece is great! It must have taken you days! Inspired me to immediately wonder how I could do something similar with a tiered volcano.
Also, your cats are hilarious haha.

I agree with you Belatucabras,
Skunkape, in this case, the sand adds more details to the dry brush, always darker base, within a range of lighter colors in this case! :-)
