Hi crafters
I need to create a building for my game and need both levels at the same time, both for spells and making shure everybody knows where everybody is according to eachother!
But, how do I do that? Having the storyes one over the other? Small sticks as pillars? But what about the middle of the buildings, I also need acces to them! So the storys have to be spaced apart so our arms can get in but also we need to have it resemble a building?
Argh, I'm shutting down for the day, but hope you can help me/us! Ps. The building is a appartment building and the players have to attack several appartments at the same time! There is also a big chance that one, or more, holes in the floor might have characters or opponents fall to the level below.

Just make a seperate tile for each level of the building. Make them the exact same size, put the stairwells in the same place on both tiles.

Well I know that, but how do I balance them over each other? That is my problem to solve!

do you HAVE to balance them over each other? why not just have them side by side?

I just do what dmbrad says. Make several tiles and just lay out the floors separately. Makes playing easier and the players will understand when you explain which floor is which.

If you have pillars or support pole/timber in you building, make them strong and slightly taller than the walls, the top floor can rest on top of the pillars.

I have to say I would do it the way dmscotty and dmbrad suggest. Make each floor and than set them on the table next to each other.

I'm with everyone else, just lay the two tiles side by side. But if you really want them to be 3d, try using dowels in the corners to stack them and just don't fill in the walls. It seems like someone on here did that with a tower. You might even figure out a way to make a stand like this that the tiles could just set on, maybe even offset them a bit to allow for easier access.

I've made a two story building where the layers stack. It's my current project. What I did was to make 2 separate large tiles and then created archways for the hall ways, a large front door, and the staircase. Each of these supports the top layer while its in play. You can just remove it for bottom floor play

Yes I see your points and get it clealy...side by side is easiest and most likely best! And it also helps on who-is -where?issues!
So I'll do side by side and hopefully have fun, along with my players!
