I've had a new (for me) idea for how to manage an inventory. The most basic version would be a sort of paper wallet, and then I'd put pieces of paper with items written (& maybe drawn) on them.
It could go all the way up to having a small cloth sack/bag and putting small, hand-crafted props in it - which would pair well with the potion bottle idea I saw elsewhere.
I think it would help players understand how much stuff they're actually carrying around, and it'd stop the 'paper fatigue' I often get due to repeatedly rubbing items off a list and writing new ones on.
Thoughts?

Thats an interesting innovation. Me, I am a scrap paper DM.. I keep written notes on NPC names, places, inventory items of note, and ideas for leads and hooks that develop during the game. Also also track monster hit points on scrap paper, and jot down things like "Dirges when half party on rocks" or "Swarms when dead spider damaged" to remind me of trigger conditions in the encounters.. I track battle conditions (stunned, can't shift, etc) by putting bits of plasticine on the model like little flags.. I also shove toothpicks in plasticine models or even damage the model to represent attacks on it from the party. I leave it up to the players to write item notes for themselves, such as money or mundane items they collect, but keep track of magic items, interesting loot or objects on my own note sheets.
