I'm creating small rock / rubble piles for a small game I'm putting together for the kids. Made from a mini base (different sizes), ballast and small stones. UnpaintedAttachments:

I am not shure about the idea of painting stones....they already look like stones afterall that is what they are. But I like the idea of using real stones in play maybe with a small base to prevent them from scratching the tiles?

I like that you painted the stones, because after adding in hotglue and sand, there needs to be a bit of a mask that goes on to bring it all together, and I think in this instance you did a great job!

I find real rocks left unpainted tend to look "too real" when placed next to painted figures and other props. The exceptions are crystals and some gemstones. But I have always painted my garden rock terrain. madladdesigns: Nice work. I liked that you tried to use different base sizes.
