A lot of those little things I'll just buy. Acheson Creations has some awesome stuff, and the accessories are dirt cheap. Fifty cents for something like this: I dropped about $25 bucks on his accessories page back around Christmas and came out with like 40 stumps and barrels and graves and broken columns and things - and they look a lot better than anything I could have crafted myself.

Like slurpy says it is fairly easy to get these type of additions online. You can also get "wooden pickle barrels" at craft stores that are perfect for 28mm miniatures. They are typically in the section that sells small wooden shapes.

I purchased a nice mix of miscellaneous chests, crates, and barrels from Acheson Creations after seeing this post. I just wanted to follow up and say that I am pleased with the products. They have a good amount of detail and the pieces are very inexpensive (for the accessories.)
One purchase I made that I am fairly fond of (which there was no picture of on the site) was the round inn table. They instantly make an empty square tile look like an inn.
At $0.50 a piece for some of the smaller accessories, it's a very nice find. I'm not trying to oversell them or advertise, but as far as cheap accessories to accent tiles, this is a nice catch. The one limitation that makes it arguably more expensive, is that the minimum order is $20. But, for $20, I now have a postal box full of nice accessories. (42 assorted accessory miniatures for $21 + shipping )
For those playing modern, sci-fi, or historical games, they have other sculpts as well to fit those genres.
They just arrived today, so I have no images of my own to support this post, but I wanted to give a thumbs up to Acheson Creations and thank slurpy for pointing them out. I have a lot of crates, barrels, and chests to paint now, and they really liven up dungeon tiles.

Here's a pic of some of my painted pieces. Sorry about the lighting, my house is TERRIBLE, and this really was the best I could manage out of about twelve photos.

A quick trip to the woods or a park, and you can pick up a handful of twigs and small branches. Those can supply the wood for a woodpile.

I purchased many of the same models pictured above. Pictured below is an unpainted tavern table, and the barrels behind it sort of give an idea of the scale. $0.50 per table.

This was my first time using resin minis, and they DEFINITELY need to be primed first. Reaper Bones have me spoiled, and I figured I would try to give one a brown brush-on base coat without using a spray prime first. It did NOT go well.

Size of the chests,
Here in Brazil there is a kind of stick that looks like popsicle stick, used by a doctors to ward off the tongue of the patient, do not know what it's called in English, but it would be something like the "tongue retractor".
With it, we can make bigger chests! Using the same technique!
