Those are some pretty sweet pieces. I have been thinking about using some cardboard box inserts like I noticed you were using. They look pretty cool. Great job, sir!

Thanks. The black slime I just had a cardboard bace and a added layer of hot glue. Careful they don't spread out to much. To cool it down faster to prevent this, I put it in my freezer. I layered the hot glue and put little pieces of wood in it. I then painted it black with lots of coats. After to finish her up, I applied the gloss varnash. Lots of it. Some like, 4-6 coats. With each coat I was very generous.

Nice work Do you make tiles for battle areas only or do you make tiles to make the adventure more memorable? For example, is the spiral stair case tile for some sort of encounter or is it for fun?
I have been trying to decide how you determine which part of the adventure you tile and which you leave to the "theater of the mind"

the spiral stair case and ice bridge were just for fun and practice. But most of the things I made are for ligit combat.

I only make tiles when my players are in an encounter. (Fighting) but for "skill challenges" and of that sort I storytell.

However sometimes you don't have to craft tiles. I ran a Minny mission in these extremely scary haunted halls (lol, like really messed up stuff in there) no tiles were used.

I have been trying to decide how you determine which part of the adventure you tile and which you leave to the "theater of the mind" I've been giving that a lot of thought too since this whole world of DM Scotty style tiles has opened up to me. What I've decided so far is that I'm going to do some generic tiles that I can re-use for multiple occasions, some general props/set dressing items, and then tiles for specific combat areas of an adventure. Actually, I am planning to do an OLD SCHOOL dungeon very soon. I'm going to place a variant of the classic 1st Edition AD&D Tomb of Horrors dungeon in the middle of an undead haunted swamp. I figured I'd made some generic swamp tiles and trees for outdoor fights and then do the whole dungeon for the other part. Should be fun.
