Uploading new vid tonight on crafting a gnarly dead freestanding tree.

Cool. I'm eager to see how different your method is from mine

your method isn't far off from what I have been doing, except I use actual twigs...you're right in the video though, that the distinct disadvantage of that is that it prevents the tree from falling down flat (if you want that to happen). I didn't consider using TP to make the base wider though...I just tapered the roll more towards the top and used a paper filling to help the roll keep it's form.
So even though I've been making these trees myself for awhile (Evil Forests! Yay!) I think I am definitely going to be able to use some ideas from your vid. Thanks Scotty.

Cool video, I liked how it turned out. The only thing I can think of as a possible improvement would be to use a bit of glue-soaked tissue to blend the plastic branches into the trunk. The way you crafted the tree looks cool, but the transition from trunk to branch is a bit abrupt. ;-) Also, I have a question: How would you recommend creating a trunk that branched into two or more main trunks? I'm thinking of something like this:

Twist 2 toilet paper rolls together bend the tops out, wrap the toilet paper around the base, then weave them up to the separate ends.

That's how I accomplished it. I made a grand total of 7 small trees, two semi large trees (One with an elder treant face on it that isn't immediately noticeable), and an exceptionally large tree. The entire effect is to be able to create a very versatile forest, with varying tree heights, but the larger ones in particular needed at least two rolls (One TP roll and one paper towel roll, AKA a PT roll). So when it ended up being put together, it became split into two smaller trunks near the top before it tapered into the tree branches. Of course, I used actual twigs, which help to blend into actual branches better, since their width is usually a bit thicker than the plastic branches DM Scotty used. But, as I said, DM Scotty's film actually has alot of good qualities over the ones I crafted.

I made some Larger ones where I created some bigger branches that I will show in a later video.
