In answer to the wait question, I didn't get mine until the end of July, which I believe was the next-to last shipment (the first shipment was in March). Which was really frustrating because I had three months where I was unemployed from March until the beginning of July when I could have painted A LOT. Especially frustrating because I had pledged on the first day - which is why I am glad they are doing the wave shipments this time (and why I am glad I happened to be sitting at my computer at work when Reaper's email detailing the launch came through).

In the last kickstarter, a lot of mistakes were paid for dealy by Reaper such as having to pay a lot for shipping to Canada, handling a massive order and having to deal with customs problems that delayed the delivery by almost 6 months.
I think they decided to be conservative this time, both with the number of minis and the expected delivery, so as to give themselves some slack. Should things go better than expected, I'm sure that being told the minis arrive earlier will be nicer news than hearing about a delay.

The 1st Bones Kickstarter I got somewhere in the vicinity of 230 mini's for my 100 dollars and I swapped the sophie fig that they valued at 25 for a carrying case (invaluable imo). Given the success of the first one, I can't imagine this not scaling up to the 200+ mini's number before it is done. If you have the disposable income available, and aren't already up to your ears in mini's this is a no brainer. JUST BE READY TO PAINT YOUR ARSE OFF!!

The first KS didn't have the shipping for the 100 dollar level, aka the "Vampire Level", listed in shipping waives. This should clear some of the issues up. If they didn't learn from the first multi-million dollar KS, then they never will haha.

Alrighty, I am in for $222.12 (the core set, plus expanded core set, plus some terrain bits)... and another $50 or so for the shipping to New Zealand... *sigh* the price I pay for living in Middle Earth.. *kicks a goblin*

Yeah. I am in for $200. Core + expansion (although, I really just want the Dragon Turtle) +$50 to see what pops up.

They just threw in a bag of 50 regular bases and it looks like the Aquatic miniatures are going to get added to the core set next.

Don't know that I'll ever get to use the wereshark, but it looks fun.

Don't know that I'll ever get to use the wereshark, but it looks fun. That is how I feel about most of the models: I really like them, but I don't really know when I will be able to use them... So I will limit myself to stuff I know (or at least strongly suspect) I will use in my campaigns. Since we play only rarely (sometimes not even monthly), my campaigns are crawling along and it can take several years(!) until some minis will be used. Well, at least I will have enough time to lean how to paint them. *sigh*

Woohoo, I made an $800 sale on ebay. Now I can get all of the stuff I want from this kickstarter. I am thinking about getting a bones 1 set as well and a bunch of paint.

I am thrilled to see them do a second KS, but I will not participate in this one, nor did I participate in the first. I would be buying a ton of mini's that I would never paint, nor use. I have, however, benefited from the first KS: I bought their Bones black dragon figure, for half the cost of the metal version... That was fantastic, as I was disappointed at its diminutive size, and I would have been very upset with myself if I had spent $40 on it, instead of $20.
The KS's are pushing many, many Bones models into production, available to anyone who cares to order them, after the KS finishes. That is truly fantastic, as I can order the Bones versions of the few figures I really want, for half the cost of their metal versions. I can't help but wonder if Reaper will eventually discontinue their metal models, in favor of the Bones material. I know that some companies, outside the USA, are still using lead alloys, because it is much less expensive to produce than tin alloys. The Bones plastic is obviously less expensive to use than tin alloys, but they seem to require different, separate molds for each line -- that can get expensive. The KS's are really dumping large quantities of Bones figures on the market, creating a large fan base for this new material, and other companies are starting to take notice. It may just shift the majority of the industry away from metal, over time. Fun to watch the industry change. Cheers!

You can always buy a set, keep what you want, and eBay the rest.

Anybody know what you get for $1 contribution. As much as I want to jump on this, and as much as I'll hate myself this time next year, it really couldn't come at a much worse time for me. But I can afford a dollar, even if it's just for one mini.

Someone said that the KS website thingy way of doing business requires free USA shipping. If that is accurate then I would bet they would charge US shipping if they could. I don't know, though, as I did no research before typing this message.

I understood that part. I meant that it is intrinsic to KS to give free US shipping. As in it is a requirement.

After doing the research, which should have been done previously(but where's the fun in that?), I have learned that nowhere on the KS website can I find any requirement to give free US shipping. This would leave a person to believe that it was a conscious choice on the part of Reaper to do so. So, why would they risk alienating overseas backers when it would have been easier, and cheaper for them, to just charge everyone shipping. Charging the $10 or $20 for US shipping would certainly save them from some heckling.

I know I will still be in it if it costs an extra $20.

First of all, as an overseas buyer, I just suck it up.. I live thousands of miles away by sea or air, I am used to buying specialist goods at high shipping cost, and "cargo container crap" dirt cheap, just like anyone else. The ironic part, is the carbon footprint is less for me, than it is for someone in the continental US.. your stuff gets freighted by truck, using loads of fuel.. mine gets here by jet or cargo ship.. relatively light on fuel over a greater distance.
Go figure.
Anyway, unless they can send it in bulk via shipping containers, and unload to send it locally when it gets here, they will never be able to ship it for free internationally without incurring some fairly staggering costs.

...and aren't already up to your ears in minis... That would be my case thanks to the first Bones kickstarter, and that's just with the Vampire set. Except for the Kraken and maybe the Numenera monsters, most of the selection leaves me cold because I already have a huge variety of Bones now!

Unless you pick your stuff up in the seaport, it also gets shipped by various trucks and cars up to your home. Of course if you buy a whole 20' container full of reaper minis, your carbon footprint really is better.

I am up to $314.
I still remember telling a friend about two years ago that I wasn't going to start Warhammer, but rather get back into DnD because Warhammer would just be too expensive. . .
*sigh*

$214. And I second that sight. They got me with Dragons don't share bundle: It's 'only' $35, but it added a whopping $18 to the shipping bill. ...but after seeing this truly iant diorama in the video, I understand the $18 a bit better. I thought about crafting this thing myself, but that's just not the same; greed got the better of me. again. *sight again*
