DM Scotty wants to know what you would like to see vid wise. Post some suggestions for the man behind the curtain.

Couple of things come to mind:
1) Do a wak through of a wagon/cart like you showed us. 2) Build a camp (Tent, fire, etc) 3) Do one around the use of the sculpty. How to shape, tools used, etc.

Full 3d accent pieces, such as swaying trees, a roaring fireplace, a warm hearth, and a lot more

My first tile I made after seeing DM Scotty's vids was a campsite....very little really, it was just a toss in piece of irregularly ovoid shaped cardboard with raised areas where I could place some modular shrubbery. I have been considering how to make up the campfire still, so it's not even really complete, but it makes for a good place to display the four hay wagons I made. All my PC's will forever be suspicious of a time when they enter a forest clearing with four wagons...
I'd like to see a vid on how to make easy/cheap facades. It's nice to have the flat tile pieces, but I can see alot of purpose for facades that look great and can be used for anything from cave entrances to houses and shops (without needing to spend a years worth of crafting effort on making a full 3D village). This could be good to have as a step similar to having doors and pillars....something not quite 3D but helps to bring the "stage" to life.
So there's my suggestion.

This is a bit outside of the norm for what you are doing, but...
I think you should record a play session. I am very curious to see the man in action. How 'bout it Scotty?!
If your players were on board I think it could be a blast. If it is one thing I have always enjoyed it is watching videos of a great DM in action. Chris Perkins is a great example, and is my personal favorite. The game-play session would be a great conversation point for future videos as well.

Great suggestion m3talslime! that would be a cool vid. Even if you just got them together for an offbeat encounter, thaT WOULD BE SWEET.

he plays 4e, i believe that the vid would be split into 4 parts JUST for an encounter. That said i need ideas for walking into a room and what to describe. I keep forgetting to do so and i only describe what's necessary for the encounter

I would like to see a vid on a painting technique to make something look like marble. We could do it on sarcophagi, statues, etc.

I used to have trouble with that as well, steel. (I still forget occasionally). Do this....
Take some time before the session to daydream a bit. Imagine yourself in a room in your dungeon. What does it look like? Smell like? Any background sounds? Try to visualize your dungeon, and it will help you describe it to your group.
If you need to , make some notes about the dungeon before hand, something you refer to and use in your descriptions before you talk about monsters. Something like a list can be helpful, too.
Hope that helps

I think that a lot of the concepts in your most recent new year video can be enforced, or rather understood, if you give us a window into your campaign. It has been mentioned that 4e combat is long. I get that, but The Penny Arcade acquisitions incorporated sessions were highly entertaining.

yes, the first 3 'seasons' of AQI are great, but i've listened to some other actual play recordings from places like the gamer's haven and i had to fast forward some times because i was getting bored. I don't want combat to take too long like it does in 4e but i don't want it taking 5 minutes because the wizard decided to fly and rain down 4 fireballs in one round. I'm a believer that the appropriate time for a battle is somewhere between 15-30 minutes, and have great things happening along the way
That said, doing at least a snippet, like the first 5 minutes of your combat would do some great things for the gridless videos, letting people understand how flanking works in a gridless system, and other things as well

I suppose it is all about personality. If the players are just going through the motions then it gets old very quickly. I agree, a snippet or even a highlight reel might be very cool!

Sorry Scotty, I've been away over Christmas so didn't have time to create this thread. :/ I would like to see coffins, both intact and crumbling.

Great stuff, BTW! I'm about 3/4 of the way through all the vids but I'd like to see a walk-through of your storage and organization of pieces you've done.
Thanks!

I would love to see a dark swamp. Old rotted trees, moss hanging, murky mucky mud, shambling mounds. Although this might take more than 1 or even 2 videos.

Spell effect markers. Things like wall of force, fire, etc...
More trap vids, those are always great.

I agree with Madladdesigns and Steel, coffins and sarcofagi with broken or removable lids would be great. I've bought some D&D 4th edition adventures lately and they always seems to have at least one crypt or catacomb with lay-down stone sarcofagi

I believe making a lay-down sarcophagi is easy with a bit of cardboard and cardstock, one piece to serve as the base one for support and the cardstock for the sides and face. The crumbling pieces are a question mark, as are removable lids (though i suspect double walled sarcophagi would be an option). And i've figured out how to make upright ones just now...

As with treasure chests, sarcophagi are pretty easy to make. Not so much easy to make look *good* however. I've been doing alot of crafting lately with a friend around, and I was talking about making sarcophagi. He mentioned mini's that could be used as statues that are pretty cheap, and I then though about how to make the same sort of figures (just cheap knight minis for kids to play with) into a sarcophagus. it taes a few extra steps, but not too hard. That way it looks like a stone sculpture of the knight entombed within (Ala Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade). so, just an idea or two until DM scotty makes a vid about it

Please do a video on building a bridge have you watched my vid on Bloodskull Gorge. I build a nice drawbridge in that vid. You could always modify it it be a normal bridge.

I would like to see a vid on your personal favorite monsters and heroes from your past and present campaign's. I know about the decapitator, but who is your favorite villian and how do you keep him fresh in your campaign!
